Dengue, COVID: Health Guidelines Issued for HSC Exams 2025

As Bangladesh prepares for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, the government has issued fresh health guidelines to protect students from the dual threats of dengue and COVID-19. With thousands of students expected to sit for the crucial exams across the country, authorities are taking preemptive steps to ensure a safe and smooth examination environment. Here's a detailed look at the guidelines and key measures every student, guardian, and exam center must follow.

Increased Vigilance Amid Dual Health Threats

In 2025, the public health landscape is once again under pressure. The dengue season, typically peaking during the monsoon, has already seen a spike in reported cases across urban and semi-urban areas. At the same time, new variants of the coronavirus have prompted renewed caution. As students prepare to take their HSC exams, the education and health ministries have jointly issued protocols to minimize health risks.

Key Guidelines for HSC Exam Centers

1. Mosquito Control Measures:
All examination centers are required to conduct thorough mosquito control activities at least 48 hours before the exams begin. This includes cleaning stagnant water sources, spraying larvicides, and ensuring proper sanitation both inside and around exam halls.

2. COVID-19 Safety Protocols:

  • All students, invigilators, and staff must wear face masks within exam premises.
  • Hand sanitizers must be available at the entrance of each center.
  • Thermal scanners are to be used to check body temperatures of candidates before entry.
  • In case of suspected symptoms, isolated rooms must be arranged for affected students.

Instructions for Students and Guardians

Health Precautions Before Exam Day:
Students are advised to avoid crowded places and maintain proper hygiene in the days leading up to the exams. Adequate hydration, mosquito nets, and insect repellents are encouraged to prevent dengue.

On Exam Day:

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes early for health screenings.
  • Wear light, breathable clothing and carry your own water bottle and sanitizer.
  • Avoid gatherings and maintain social distancing during entry and exit.

Emergency Response & Support

A health desk will be set up at every center, equipped with first aid, ORS, and emergency contacts. In case of any health complications during the exam, rapid support will be provided in coordination with nearby hospitals.

Government’s Call for Cooperation

Education authorities have emphasized that success in executing these health guidelines depends on collective effort. Parents are urged to be vigilant about their children's health, and students are encouraged to strictly follow the instructions.

With the HSC exams being a significant milestone in a student’s academic journey, maintaining health and safety amid dengue and COVID-19 outbreaks is paramount. By adhering to these health guidelines, students can focus on their exams with peace of mind, while ensuring the well-being of everyone involved.
